History

OEG’s heritage dates back more than 50 years; its predecessor companies Ferguson Seacabs, Containental and Vertec Engineering were among the pioneers in the supply of equipment to the North Sea oil and gas industry. These companies have a long history and made a mark with their technical know-how and skills in supporting projects both locally and internationally.

From 2010, after the re-branding to OEG Offshore, OEG has increasingly become an international player with a global footprint and a successful worldwide customer base.

Here we look back on some of the milestones in our history; the key moments that have created the OEG Group you see today.

 

1976

Ferguson Seacabs was established in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire in 1976 on the back of the first oil field in the UK North Sea, Argyll, coming onstream in 1975.

The company was at the forefront of designing hazardous-area modules, and responsible for developing many of the safety features that are standard today.

 GAUTHIER RENTALS INCORPORATED

1979

Servicing the US Gulf Coast as a leading manufacturer of DNV 2.7-1 certified offshore equipment.

1991

Containental Offshore was originally founded in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1991 and quickly established an offshore container rental business supporting a wide range of North Sea customers.

EURO OFFSHORE ESTABLISHED

2003

Euro Offshore was founded in 2003 with its main office located in Bryne, Norway.

CONTAINENTAL ACQUISITION OF VERTEC ENGINEERING AND LABTECH RENTAL FLEET

2009

Containental Offshore acquire Vertec Engineering and Labtech’s A60 cabin rental division in 2009 to offer a full-service package of new build A60 modules, A60 rental cabins & a welcomed expansion of industry knowledge and experience.

OEG Offshore Limited is Formed

2010

OEG Offshore Ltd was officially formed on February 01, 2010 as a result of the Containental Offshore Ltd and Vertec Engineering Ltd merger.

Modex Energy Incorporated

2011

Modex started manufacturing offshore containers and modules in Shanghai, becoming a leading manufacturer and provider of DNV certified CCUs, cabins and well service equipment for offshore oil & gas operations.

Darwin acquisition

2012

OEG acquire Tank and Pump Services in Darwin, Northern Territories, Australia and offers an expanded product/service range to local customers.

OEG acquire new Trash Compactor product range and the ability to offer compactor bags and repair services.

Melbourne expansion

2013

OEG acquire OPC in Melbourne to further expand regional services.

This acquisition provides OEG with base locations in Perth in Western Australia to support the WA offshore market. Melbourne & Barry Beach in southern Australia is supporting activity in the Bass Strait. OPC are also providing oilfield operational support in PNG.

Acquisition boosts growth in the caspian region

2014

OEG acquire OSCA Environmental Services to boost reach into the Caspian and Russia. This provided OEG with a country footprint in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Euro Offshore merges with Modex, expanding the capabilities across Europe.

Expansion, Mergers and Name Changes

2015

OEG acquire Oilfield & Resource Rentals (ORR) and Offshore Cryogenic Services (OCS) to enhance Perth presence and expansion into North West Australia.

OEG acquire Cameron Rental and Tank (CRT) providing OEG with a significantly expanded presence in the Gulf of Mexico

Modex and Gauthier Rentals merge and Euro Offshore changes name to Modex creating the world’s third largest offshore container fleet.

Second largest offshore CCU provider

2016

OEG acquire Asia Offshore Rentals (AOR) and expands into Norway, Congo and Myanmar for the first time. This strategic move makes OEG the second-largest provider of CCUs worldwide.

USA merger & strategic collaboration

2017

OEG merges its US business with Louisiana based cargo and logistics specialist, Paragon Industries in a strategic expansion of the OEG USA CCU fleet. This merger has increased OEG’s product range and services offering to the Gulf of Mexico market.

UK acquisition announced

2019

The acquisition of Harran Limited, a leading offshore aviation specialist service provider with operational facilities in Aberdeen, Scotland and Great Yarmouth, England strengthens OEG’s position as a leading provider of offshore aviation products and services to international markets.

WorLd’s largest fleet of CCUs

2020

OEG acquired the legacy Ferguson global offshore fleet including cargo units, tanks and temporary living modules. OEG is now the world’s largest offshore CCU provider with a rental fleet of 60,000+ units.

OEG’s ambitious growth strategy continues

2021

Acquisition of Modex Energy Rentals augments OEG’s position as a leading provider of CCUs to the offshore energy industry with a fleet of over 70,000 units across all of the world’s principal offshore energy regions.

Offshore welfare and hygiene specialists Pegasus Welfare Solutions joined the OEG group in April along with Lowestoft-based offshore communications specialists, Fern Communications and Liverpool based Hughes Subsea Services in September. These acquisitions strengthen OEG’s portfolio of projects and services for the renewables sector.

OEG Offshore broadens renewables capability with Manor Renewable Energy

2022

Acquisition of the temporary power, engineering and vessel business, which boasts group turnover in the region of £30m, advances OEG’s fast‐paced strategy to deliver integrated offshore service packages across the world.
